Story of Samson

Judges 16:21-31

When the Philistines dragged Samsonaway, they were very happy. Aftertwenty years, they had finally

captured Samson. "All we had to dowas cut your hair! Now you're asweak as a baby!"

The Philistines were very mean.They took out Samson's eyes so thathe became blind. Then they threw himinto prison.

Poor Samson. He had no hope ofescaping. After some time his hairstarted growing back again. Little bylittle, he felt the Lord returning hisstrength. He would never see again.He prayed he might someday be ableto pay back the Philistines for all theyhad done to him.

"Lord," he cried out, "give me backmy strength."

As the months passed, Samsonbecame stronger and stronger. Oneday. the Philistines were having ahuge party in a big hall. There wereover three thousand people there.

"Let's have Samson come to theparty, too," they said.

"Yes, we can laugh at him."

The prison guard brought Samsonto them. As Samson entered the hall,he heard them making fun of him.Samson asked the boy who led him tolet him feel the pillars in the middle ofthe hall. These pillars held the bighouse up.

When Samson felt the rough stonebeneath his fingers, he shouted, "LordGod Almighty, please give me backmy strength! Just this one last time, letme hurt the Philistines. Please Lord,help me set Your people free!"

The Lord heard Samson. His HolySpirit flooded Samson with strength.With a mighty heave, Samson pushedthe pillars. He pushed and heaved andshoved and suddenly, with a mightycrash, the stones all fell in on oneanother!

"Let me die with the Philistines!"Samson shouted. And he bent with allhis might so that the house fell down.
