Bible Story Peter, John and the Crippled Man

1cts 2.43, 3:1-10

With the Holy Spirit's help, theapostles could do miracles. More andmore people were believing in Jesus,so the church was growing every day.One time Peter helped make a beggarbetter. This man had never been ableto walk.

Peter and John passed him on thetemple steps. The beggar tried to askfor money. Instead, the two apostleswanted to give him much more.

don't have any money," Petertold him. "What I do have, I give toyou. In the name of Jesus Christ ofNazareth, walk!" Peter took him byhis right hand. He helped him up tohis feet. Straight away the beggar felt

his legs become stronger. He stood upby himself!

"I can walk! I can walk! Blessed bethe God of Israel!" the man shouted.He jumped and danced into thetemple, following Peter and John.

The people at the temple wereastonished to see the beggar jumpingup and down. A crowd soon gathered.

Peter saw all the people wonderingwhat had happened. He said, "Thiswas really Jesus who healed the man,not us. We only did it in Jesus' name.You had Jesus killed. God broughtHim back to r e again. He is theMessiah. By b 'tying in im thisman has been de bette This made the religious leaders veryangry! They did not like anyonetalking about Jesus. They called theguards and had Peter and Johnarrested. "That will keep them fromalking about this Jesus coming backo life," the religious leaders told eachother. They had Peter and Johnthrown into jail for the night, butmany more people believed.

The next day the religious leaderscalled for Peter and John. They askedthe two apostles how they had healedthe crippled man. Peter was filled withthe Holy Spirit, so he answered withwisdom.

The religious leaders said, "Thesemen have never been to any schools.They're just simple people from

Galilee. How can they talk so well?Listen!" they told them. "If you agreeto stop talking about this Jesus, we'lllet you go."

"What do you think is right? To dowhat God wants, or to do what youwant? Do you think God wants us tolisten to you or to Him?" Peteranswered. "We can't stop talkingabout what we've seen and heard."Peter and John were not at all afraidof the religious leaders. There wasnothing more the priests could do.The man Peter had healed wasstanding right in front of them. Sothey let Peter and John go.
