A Job Well Done

Luke 19:11-27

Jesus told another story. "There oncewas a king who went away on a longtrip. Before he left home, he gave tenof his slaves a great deal of money. Along time later, the king came homeagain. He called the ten slaves and

asked how they had used the money.Had they been wise or foolish?

"All the slaves but one had beenwise. The foolish slave had buried themoney and not tried to earn more.The king was very angry. He took themoney away from this man andpointed his finger at him. Then hegave the money to the one who earnedten times the amount while he wasgone."

Jesus wanted His disciples tounderstand that the story was aboutthem. These people had been given aglimpse of the kingdom of God. Hewanted them to know that those whowant to learn more about the kingdomof God will be rewarded. But thosewho turn their backs on whateverJesus has shown them will be left withless than nothing.
