Easy Cushion Embellishments

1. Trace your design on to the backingpaper of the fusible web. Place the sticky(fusible) side face down on the wrong sideof the applique fabric. Fuse in place with ahot iron.

2. Cut out the motif around the markedline and peel away the backing paper.

3. Place the motif, sticky side down, onthe main fabric and press with a hot iron.

INSERTING EYELETS

1.. First mark the eyelet positions with apencil, spacing them evenly. Place theplastic disc underneath the fabric at thefirst mark, then place the cutting part ofan eyelet- tool over the mark and strikewith a hammer to punch the hole.

CLIPPING CURVES AND CORNERS

To allow a curved seam or a hensto lie flat, it is helpful to snip theseam allowances. Cut out smalltriangular shapes along the edge,taking care not to snip throughthe stitching.

To clip corners, cut carefullystraight across the corner, as nearto the stitching as possible.

1. Starting at one corner, pin both edgesof the ribbon parallel to the hem, makingfolds in the corner. Machine stitch allaround to attach the ribbon to the fabric,and tuck the excess ribbon under at thecorners to form a neat diagonal seam.

2. Next, ladder stitch the seam together.This is done by simply making li(wi:ontalstitches between the tOlds and runningthe needle through the fold.
