The Do It Yourself articles here is about jobs that can be undertaken by a complete amateur. They call for no previous experience or skill, and need a minimum of very ordinary tools. The articles are written in everyday language, avoiding technical jargon wherever possible. The main essential is to have the right tools — few of them but well chosen (see the beginning of each section).To call a tradesman to one's home these days costs lots of money, no matter how trifling the job that has to be done. This is particularly hard on people of limited means — and it is often quite unnecessary.
